Number Ten

Lydia,

I miss kayaking with you, too, we always had such a great time (even when we got those horrible sunburns). We need to go on a kayaking trip in the UP sometime! Maybe someday when the kids are a bit older and can be left behind with other family members…I agree that Alder and Poppy are going to be pretty adventurous. They already are–just today Alder was asking me when we could go kayaking again and Poppy chimed in “ayak? Ayak?” I think it’s safe to say that they both enjoyed our time on the water. It sounds like Sunny is already partaking in her fair share of adventures, too. I have a feeling our kids would all be great little adventure buddies!

The stage Olga is in right now sounds absolutely precious! That is such a sweet, giggly, happy time to be a baby and a parent. That feeling of wanting to freeze time but also looking forward to future things–I know that feeling SO well. There are so many precious things that you want to hold onto forever but so many precious things yet to come. I miss you and your family and can’t wait to meet Olga one day soon!

Congratulations on moving into your new home! That is just so exciting. The diy mishap sounds like a mess but at least you are trying new things and now you know better for next time. I’ll have to come to you when I have a place of my own that needs freshening up! That paint brand sounds great, too, it’s so good to have so many lower/non toxic options available.

Getting the kitchen put together before fully moving is such a good idea. I’ve moved so many times in my life and have never thought to do that. Maybe my mom has…? But I certainly have not. And what a perfect time to have a wine and paint night where you can make as big of a mess as you want and it doesn’t even matter! What kind of flooring are you going to be putting down to replace the old? It just sounds like you are really making the best of this move in so many ways.

I am loving this changing of seasons. This week has been pretty hot but we got a brief little taste of the crisp, fall weather for a few days and it was so invigorating. Fall is my favorite (as it is for many, with good reason) and for some reason it always feels so inspiring. Maybe it’s the instinctive push to be busy and get ready for winter, I don’t know. I’m so excited for all of the fall colors, the cool weather and the autumnal activities that come with the season.

–Janie
