#26 — Another Snow Storm
Janie,
It’s always funny to me how a few inches of powdery snow can shut down the whole city of St. Louis. I imagine that you guys who are just a few hours north of us perpetually have at least that much on the ground for most of the season, and manage just fine. I am especially enjoying today’s snow because of its striking glisten in the morning sun! It was very nice to look at in the orange-pink early morning light. But, I think after this snow melts away, I’ll be ready for spring. I’m in luck too, because next week is foretasted to be in the mid 60 degrees and I’m itching to get started on my garden. My bean arch in particular. I’m starting to get more organized with it but still so far behind.
My outdoor to do list
-test soil for contaminates and nutrients
-clear and level ground for garden beds
-add compost to soil
-order seeds
-build an arch for the beans
-blue prints for chicken coup
In the meantime, we started potty training Sunny.. 3rd attempt. I’m really going to stick it out this time no matter what because I don’t want to spend anymore money on diapers! (we’re trying the no pants around the house method.. we may or may not include sticker rewards depending on our success rate) We should have started days ago since we’ve been cooped up at home with very little to do. But the next best time to start is now I guess. Even if I’m not mentally stoked about it. If I’m honest, I don’t know how much longer I can stay cooped up here. I usually try to leave the house once a day so this has been a lot for all of us. I’ve been putting in great efforts to make the best of things. Rearranging the furniture to make the house feel a bit more cozy, and preparing extra cozy meals. Today I’ll put on a simple simmer pot (orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and vanilla) to help combat the smell of potty training.. ugh . Maybe I’ll make some lemon blueberry scones this afternoon using my old VB recipe.
Anyway, you just told me about your new apartment! I’m so happy and excited for you! I can’t wait to see pictures! Also I’m hoping that the kids have a smooth transition into your new home and are as excited as you are.
